Career Options

There are three broad categories of jobs in the civil services—as a cadre officer (a class I post), an Assistant Commissioner (class II post), or an Assistant Secretary (class III post). Among these, class I officers have the most important jobs; their posts are those that deal with law and order, human resources, education and even media.

When it comes to class II and III posts, the majority of officers are in charge of water resources or revenue, with the former dealing with day-to-day handling of city infrastructure and the latter with their collection. For example, a Revenue Assistant Commissioner is responsible for the collection of tax.
